Lobonok, Juba county, Africa Zeal University -AZU celebrated a significant journey on Saturday November 16th 2024, as it graduated it’s first cohort of 44 students in a historic ceremony held in Yapa boma, Lobonok payam

The event brought together government officials, representatives from NGOs, members of diplomatic corps, students and the local community.
Among the attendance were the Vice president of the Republic of South Sudan H.E. Prof James Wani Igga who was the Patron of the day and the Deputy governor of Central Equatoria state H.E Paulina Lukudu.

In his speech, Igga emphasized the University commitment to academic excellence and commended the role Education plays in South Sudan. He encouraged the graduates to be job creators rather than job seekers.

AZU was founded to provide accessible and quality higher education in South Sudan. The University is located in Yapa boma, Lobonok payam, Juba county with it’s coordination office in Munuki suk Melissa

The highly anticipated Africa Zeal University Premier League has officially kicked off, bringing together students from various faculties in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship and unity. The tournament aims to foster talent, teamwork, and healthy competition across the university.

In the opening matches, Group A edged past Group B with a narrow 3-2 victory in the first match, followed by a goalless draw (0-0) in the second encounter, securing Group A’s place ahead on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Group D battled it out with Group C, with Group D claiming a 3-2 win in a tightly contested match.

Africa Zeal University continues to be recognized not only for its academic excellence but also for its dedication to extracurricular activities, including sports, culture, and innovation. The Premier League is just one of many initiatives that reflect AZU’s commitment to developing well-rounded students and a vibrant campus community.
